Overview of Public Vigilance Council Tamilnadu


  • Village Vigilance Committee states that our Country after getting the independence i.e. 15th August 1947, city commissioner changed from V.V.C committee to Station Vigilance Committee S.V.C . But for those committee members, they named as SVC in identity card and provided.
  • P.G Gopala Krishnan who worked in military and after retired, he joined in E-3 Teynampet police station with the help of officers on 6th June 1953. In this 5 people are there.
  • To develop this committee, got advice from police officers and took effort in e-circle. P.G. Gopala Krishnan worked as leader.
  • Only 5 members in SVC committee, he appointed 16 members and developed it. In festival time, he worked in night and helped other policemen to do the work for public good, and he helped traffic policemen as well, and he monitored in beach with other policemen’s for public safety. For this effort, police department and people have appreciated too.
  • Chennai Commissioner Mr. F.V.Arul too have appreciated the SVC committee and provided support.
  • In 1976, Chennai Deputy Commissioner of Police, law and order Southern part W.I.Devaram I.P.S provided identity card for S.V.C monitoring members.
  • In 2.8.1980, Mr.S.Sripal I.P.S Chennai Police Commissioner Head Mr.P.G.Gopala Krishnan conducted function and appreciated.
  • In 1990 year, group named as ‘Kankaanipaalan’ monthly edition started.
  • After the death of Mr.P.G.Gopala Krishnan, 26-1-1995 this group renamed as public monitoring council Tamilnadu and continued with Chennai police and doing service.
  • In 1999, Mrs. G.Thilagavathi I.P.S railway I.G. with their suggestions, railway track police joined and safety measures took for public safety in Chennai central.
  • Both railway police and public vigilance joined and did the service have appreciated and provided certificate.
  • Further, they helped public by doing services like medical aid, donating blood, old age home, society awareness group, and free books for school students, free eye checkup and providing prizes for school toppers, they appreciated for this initiative, effort and provided award too.
  • Judge D.N.Vallinayagam(retired), Mr.P.Renugopal I.A.S and Former police officer retired I.P.S G.Thilagavathi. Our group continuing successful services and providing encouragement that goes for successful achievement. To continue the services public vigilance council, Tamilnadu, members and I request all people need to co-operate with unity.
